We have a Versace Banger!! PLOW'D by The Versace Boys.
I’m gonna talk about the song, why we’ve chosen to collab with the Versace Boys, as well as pointing out the maybe or maybe not so obvious meaning behind it.
Dropped on streaming sites this Wednesday 29 April, conveniently a day before Skin Cancer Awareness Month starts. A timely reminder of what this is all about. Never forget protection.
Mixing business with pleasure is literally the whole point of Plow, so of course we begged to collab with Byron's funniest satirical pop-hop duo.
Who better to ask to write a song based entirely around never regretting a plow if you never forget protection. We often get asked what Plow means… and instead of telling you to get your head out of the gutter, we decided to play on the pun this season.
Never regret a Plow. Never forget protection.
If it's not on, it's not on.
You can’t argue with that messaging - no matter where the definition takes you, it only stands to protect you.
Plow is a word only really my friendship group used for surfing. It's not in the surf dictionary yet. We’ll give it some time.
We gave the boys Will & Coastie the brief and they grabbed it by the ankles and ran with it.
Gotcha - Baited with a bop. Now we're going to tell you to get your skin checked and wear your protection.
The fit couldn’t be more perfect… we’re walking a fine line with this song theme and I’m conscious Plow has accidentally become equally a kids brand as it is for us big kids.
Versace Boys describe themselves as satirical pop-hop making music about "the struggles of being incredibly rich, famous, gorgeous and humble" they’ll play family-friendly gigs at community markets and kids shows by day and turn up the chaos at over 18's shows at night.
They have the cleverest way of taking the piss and never leaving anyone offended.
Just ask our Rose (my mum), she’s a self certified prude who you’d feel obliged to apologise for swearing in front of - they can do no wrong in her eyes. Strap a Plow hat to your chin and dance on a bin is apparently what it takes to look past a bit of a rogue theme. A true craft to tone the PG up and down and the joke still hits
I’d been first exposed to their music when they launched their song Vegan [but I eat chicken on the weekend], the film clip was immediately sent to me by my Byron based mates, with my personal instagram handle famously holding @vegan_onvacay for years before graduating to my now very on brand status of Ginger Bandit - The brand alignment with the Versace Boys & Plow has been strong long before we met last October.
With no resistance they obliged to writing us a Plow themed jingle, and persisting on their backs with encouragement by Will’s wife Gab to make sure we got the follow through - they finally invited me into the studio on Feb 23rd, launching into my 30's spending my birthday at Soggy Bottom Studios watching them mix it together this song in real time! Groupie life goals

Apart from being iconic at a live performance, objectively hot and funny, their music is far too easy to rinse on replay. Most of my airtime was through their USB in my van, which doesn't count for Spotify stats. But somehow I rinsed them so hard they still made it into my 2025 Wrapped. This blog is almost getting vulnerable.
Back to the serious note, and why we’ve actually done this song - it’s of course a genius collab that has already served personal enjoyment, but what a way to make some noise about sun safety.
It’s clear that humour-based campaigns are genuinely effective for health messaging, and it’s so easy to go down the path of scare tactics with skin cancer - nothing healthy about a tan and all.
But it doesn’t speak to the real daily challenge of WANTING & REMEMBERING to be sun safe.
We’ve already been told on repeat the skin cancer risk in australia, 2 in 3 by the time we’re 70, most commonly diagnosed cancer in people under 40, one diagnosed every 30 minutes. Almost entirely preventable. It somehow doesn’t have the effect to influence peoples daily habits or is too extreme to land sometimes.

It’s become a mission of Plow to pre-empt excuses angling our messaging at helping bring sun safety to the front of your mind, whether that’s falling in love with a specific hat colourway that makes you excited to wear it, loving the way they fit, or simply just reminding you to use the protection you’ve already got.
It’s worth going a little risky and rogue to get protection front of mind, because prevention is better than a cure. Cue plugging Scotty’s new Skin Check Champions app here
Plow exists to promote sun safety and that's above everything else. If this song encourages you to make better choices, wear your protection, whether it’s ours or something else, we’ve done our job.
PLOW'D by VERSACE BOYS dropped on all streaming platforms Wednesday 29 April. Pre-save it. Yell it from your roof racks.
With the timing lining up so beautifully with Skin Cancer Awareness Month and World Melanoma Day, we're going to be loud about the mission alongside the silliness all through May.
Check your skin. Wear your hat. Use your sunscreen.

Never regret a Plow.
Never forget protection.
Stay safe
