About Plow Surf Co.

Plow is run by me, Grace.

With a passion for sun safety that's deeply personal. Family history of skin cancer, a ginger complexion, growing up on the East Coast of Australia... After losing my Aunt to Melanoma, I spent a summer searching for surf hats with a bit of personality and came out empty handed. So we made our own! Plow launched in December 2021, and I haven't looked back.

Along the way I also became a Skin Check Nurse, Dermoscopy Trained. After getting a BCC myself at 27... it was the second big reality check, skin checking just felt like the right next move.
Sun safety isn't just what Plow sells... it's sort of become my whole personality to help other people keep it a priority too.

We're coming up to Plow's 5th lap around the sun and prepping for our 6th summer, which is actually wild!!

Since season 1, we've expanded the size range from big kids (us) to super groms (toddlers), somewhere along the way accidentally kind of became a kids brand lol. What makes Plow hats perfect for fussy surfers, makes them perfect for fussy toddlers. If Dad's in his Plow there's no excuse for the grommies not to be too!

Sun safety and skin cancer prevention are at the heart of everything we do, but as a founder on the cusp of millennial/Gen Z I couldn't live with myself if quality and sustainability weren't equally at the top of the priority list. We use recycled materials where we can, and the biggest part of our sustainability mission is making hats built to last, unfortunately sometimes the trade off for 'sustainable' is drop in quality and that doesn't sit well with us either.
Five years in, we're proving they are truly built to last. We absolutely love meeting customers in the wild still rocking their Season 1 Plow hats strong.

Let's make sun safety something surfers actually WANT to do. As a daily habit, it's got to be practical, easy, comfortable, exciting - cue, FUN~CTIONAL our favourite way to describe our hats.
